Brennen's Field Trip to Big Springs/Johnny Sack Cabin

I went with Brennen's second grade to Big Springs in Island Park where the Johnny Sack Cabin is. It was so much fun! I loved being with my boy for the day. This must just be Brennen month! He's had a lot going on for him. Tonight was his first pack meeting for Scouts! Yeah!

Cougar Pride!

It's homecoming week and we are still South Fremont Cougar fans! Today, the kids all attend the homecoming parade and are supposed to wear red, black, and white. Every year I paint cougar paw prints on the kids faces to show cougar pride. Several other people do this here as well. Taylor participated in a little cougar cheer clinic and will perform at half time of the game tonight. Shane is coming home tonight to watch her and to celebrate Brennen's birthday this weekend with us. Yeah!!! Go Cougars!

Brennen's 8th Birthday!

Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Brennen, Happy birthday to you! We woke Brennen up this morning singing to him. We then had a pancake and sausage breakfast with chocolate milk (Brennen's favorite!). I don't think he's quite awake in this picture! It's 6:30 a.m.

Brennen's game boy has been having some problems and he's been borrowing Taylor's pink Nintendo DS. He's been asking for a Pokemon one for himself for a long time. He knew we wouldn't get it for him, so he hit Grandma Heuseveldt up. He got to pick this one out and said he was going to get up a 4:00 in the morning to open it up. We teased him and told him it was just a couple of barbies to play with. He's too smart! Needless to say, he didn't wake up at 4:00 so Tay and I woke him up at 6:30. I made him eat his breakfast first before he could open it up. I've never seen a boy eat so fast!! He even left some sausage on his plate which is very unusual for anyone who knows Brennen's appetite.
For all of you wondering, I can't get the boy to sleep in pajamas! He's always too hot.

Brennen is my little chef. He is always helping me in the kitchen. He loves to cook. He is helping me make the cupcakes for his class. I tried to think of something creative to do with them, but he wanted Pokemon cupcakes. I had to order the Pokemon cupcake sticks online, so that is what is on his cupcakes.

I looked at Brennen's baby photo album yesterday and remembered this sweet little boy coming into our family. What a wonderful little boy. Thank you for the great example you set for your little brother and your cousins. You always make good choices that make us so proud of you. I know your Heavenly Father is proud of you too. We love you Brennen and are so excited that you have made the choice to be baptized on October 11th. Happy 8th birthday!

Should I Be Worried?

I guess there are some advantages to being the only boy at preschool (yesterday)!! The girls showered Parker with toys and he loved every minute of it! Should I be worried? Such a young age to charm the girls!!!!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

This week has been so much fun! Shane's birthday was on Wednesday. He came home last weekend so we decided to celebrate it then. His family all came over and we had cake and ice cream. It was a lot of fun visiting with everybody. This was the first year since we have been marrried that I haven't been able to do something special for him on his birthday because he was in Wyoming. Shane's sister Vicki and his mom and brother all said they wanted to do something special for him. Vicki came up with a candy bar bouquet idea. When she checked with florists for delivery, it was really expensive. I called Rachael and Rob to see if they could help out. They went to the store and got every candy bar that Shane likes, along with tons of other goodies and put a basket together for him. They also got hostess cupcakes for his class. (I always have made his class cupcakes on his birthday. In Wyoming, they can't bring home baked goods. It has to be store bought, so hostess it is!) My brother Rob went to drop it off at his school and the secretary was so excited, she grabbed a bunch of other people including the principal and Rob. They ran down the sixth grade hall and rounded up all of the other sixth grade classes, students, teachers, and all. They flooded his room singing Happy Birthday. I was so excited to hear that he was utterly embarassed in front of tons of people! I love it!!! Love you Shane! Thank you to Vicki, and Rob and Rachael for helping me to do something special for Shane from a distance on his special day. I tried to upload the picture from my e-mail of the basket, but it didn't work and the kids need me now so I'm not messing with it!!!
This weekend, we some friends come over on Friday night to get some Scentsy bars. They asked about Shane coming home. I told them he couldn't because of his new calling and that I couldn't go there because it is too much money in the truck, and it is a single cab squishing the four of us in it isn't ideal travel for the kids. They said that they would be back in an hour with their old Honda Accord and to pack and get over there with him!! I was so grateful for the offer and jumped on it! Thank you Brandon and Bonnie Moon! We packed up and headed over and had a wonderful weekend visiting our daddy. We also helped on Rob and Rachael's house too. Rachael and I got a second coat on all of the doors on one side. And a third on others. It takes longer than you think it will, but it got done. We hung out in the camper and the kids had a ton of fun in front of Rob and Rachael's digging in the rocks (left the camera in the camper). We went to Sacrament meeting with Shane and then headed for home. It is always a sad time to say goodbye to the one we all love. I think it's hard on Shane too. This was our fun week ending great thanks to the Moons. Here's a few pictures of the week.

Apples and DIP?

Ok, there are several foods that Parker the two year old likes. Apples and ketchup are two of them. It is disgusting, the kid can lick a pile of ketchup up in seconds. So here is a funny story, of couse with my intro is very predictable. My preschool class went hunting outside for some red apples on my tree, but instead found plenty of green apples. We all picked one and went back into the preschool room. I cut the apples open to show them the insides. The craft was to dip the apple halves into the red paint and make apple prints on their paper. Parker was so excited that he was right by my side saying "apple, apple, apple..." I squirted the red paint out onto a plate and began to demonstrate the craft. Parker couldn't wait any longer. He snatched the other half of my apple and dipped in the paint, and yes, you guessed it. Before I could snatch it out of his hand, he was chewing and spitting!!! I don't know that he will ever eat ketchup again, he may think it is paint now! So, that's my funny Parker story for the week!

This is a kids dream to have a huge play room. Parker is not old enough to attend preschool; however, when people wanted me to start up again, I wanted Parker to be able to stay with me instead of going to daycare -everybody was ok with that and I love it, but he is disruptive in class. Parker is chewing on one of his cars who knows why! Maybe it tastes salty or something.

Shane worked really hard this summer and was able to work some extra hours that we hadn't planned on. We weren't able to take the kids to Lagoon as we had hoped, so we decided that we would get the one thing the kids keep asking for instead of a vacation this summer-a trampoline. Shane has always sacrificed everything for his family and he has done it once again. Our wants and needs have always come before his. I feel bad for him sometimes because other guys take extra money they make and spend it on themselves. Shane sacrifices his time as well. He spends it all with his family although I know fishing would be a whole lot funner sometimes! I know that there are so many things Shane would love to have ie. tools, motorcyles, etc. but he has always said when you have a family, it's not my money, it's ours. I know he will be blessed for his sacrifices he makes for all of us. Thank you honey! We love you! Shane will be embarrassed that I posted this but I think it says a lot about him. It was so cold on Saturday that the kids needed coats and hats-can you believe it? In the 40's to 50's. Taylor lasted two minutes outside and came in because her nose was cold.

We still can jump even though it's cold! I definately am not looking forward to winter, but I fear it's knocking on our door. This was our fun and exciting week. The kids loved having daddy home and so did I. We miss him but only have three more sleeps until he comes again. Yeah!
Keep praying for our house to sell! I think that we will do a family fast this next fast Sunday. We need to be with Shane and he needs us too, I think!
